C. Online Member Community Discussion Platform

Use of the online member community discussion platform, when available, are for registered LAN members only. We welcome sharing information and experiences as we appreciate the support. However, this should not replace medical advice from your physician nor should it be taken as legal advice. All matters disclosed in the disclaimer's privacy and cookies policy as well as the terms and conditions applies.

​The online community is powered by a third party which was chosen by the Chairperson of LAN. It is a free discussion platform that is user friendly and easy to manage. The third party platform does not take responsibility for content, images, and viewpoints posted by LAN members. The third party platform is not responsible for member approvals. 
Online Discussion Platform Use
  • Treat each other kindly, respecting differences, and avoiding angry exchanges. Occasionally there may be a difference in opinion. Not responding and agreeing to disagree is a safe alternative. However, if you feel the need to respond, be courteous in your response. Always be mindful of how your post might be read and interpreted, and avoid engaging in a heated manner. 
  • Attacking another member's beliefs will not be tolerated. If you feel someone is intentionally hurtful, divisive, or willfully instigating discord, please notify an administrator/moderator. 
  • If a discussion becomes heated, a likely consequence may result in an administrator/moderator locking or deleting the post. We do not anticipate this from occurring often but when we do, we expect the members to respect our choice to close the topic for public discussion. Further, willful discussion of a locked/deleted topic will be considered a serious offense.
  • The administrator/moderator volunteer their time to help the online discussion platform run smoothly. We rely on our members to inform us of potentially problematic posts. 

Content
  • The administrator/moderator allows content that support, educate and informs our food allergic community. We reserve the right to edit and/or remove any content that is inappropriate, hurtful, slanderous, or otherwise does not belong. If a member is clearly intending to be offensive or inflammatory, this will be considered grounds for member termination.
  • While we understand the frustrations and complications of living with anaphylaxis, and parents as caregivers need an outlet, we ask that you consider other members who may not be use to it. Therefore, profanity, questionable content and images are strictly prohibited. 
  • Political content is prohibited. Informative content with reliable sources attached is the standard.

Security
  • To access the online member community discussion platform, you must be a LAN member. Once a member, you will be directed to register for the platform. 
  • We put every effort to keep the online community secure and keep our member's information private. With that said, keep in mind that not everything on the internet is private. As always, be aware of details within your discussions.
  • Sharing your username and password is strictly prohibited. Sharing another member's personal information without their consent is prohibited.
