Caring for Students with Food Allergies in School. John Stevens, LCPS School Board Chairman and Potomac District Representative was interviewed about managing food in schools. When asked who else can give input with regards to food allergies and the new food guidelines, Mr. Stevens immediately responded with Loudoun Allergy Network's own Thanita Glancey and Michele Rosa.Today, NPR's local news WAMU interviewed two LAN members regarding parenting a child with food allergies and the Loudoun County Public School's new food guidelines,
WAMU contacted Mrs. Glancey for a parent's perspective. Discussions include raising a school age child with allergies, difficulties with managing allergies, as well as the prevalence of increased diagnosis of children with food allergies. Mrs. Rosa offered input regarding the efforts of putting together the new food guidelines, the wellness initiatives in the county and of course, a parent's perspective. The interview will broadcast tonight at 5:30pm, Friday, May14 on WAMU 88.5 FM.
